Now in its third edition, Cuvée Grandiflora takes an
important step forward in its evolution. The three indigenous varieties come
together in a wine that highlights the diversity and winemaking potential of
Vila Dobrușa Estate – Avincis Winery, offering a fresh perspective on the
identity of contemporary Romanian wine.
Grandiflora – Between Literature and
the History of Drăgășani
The name Cuvée Grandiflora carries a story that
extends beyond the world of wine. It is inspired by La Grandiflora, a
novella by Gib Mihăescu, a Romanian writer whose roots are closely connected to
the vineyards of Drăgășani.
During the interwar period, Drăgășani was home to a
tavern called Grandiflora, a place that has remained part of the town’s
cultural memory and belonged to the world that inspired the writer’s work. The
name of the blend thus evokes an era when local life, literature and wine
culture naturally intertwined, shaping the identity of the region.
Through this choice, Cuvée Grandiflora also becomes a
tribute to the place, the people and the stories that define the character of
the region. It represents a symbolic connection between Gib Mihăescu’s literary
legacy and Avincis’s passion for wines that express the authenticity of
Drăgășani.
Three Romanian Grape Varieties, One
Distinctive Expression
Each of the three varieties contributes to the
personality of this blend, creating a dialogue between Romania’s winemaking
heritage and the desire to explore new expressions of the terroir at Vila
Dobrușa Estate – Avincis Winery.
With this edition, Cuvée Grandiflora 2021 becomes more
than a new version of an established wine. It is the expression of confidence
in Romanian grape varieties and in their ability to produce wines with
identity, character and refinement.
A Gastronomic Experience Celebrating
Wine
The launch of Cuvée Grandiflora 2021 was celebrated
with a gastronomic experience in which wine and cuisine came together through a
carefully selected pairing.
The wine was served alongside Scottish Aberdeen
Angus beef fillet, truffle potato mille-feuille and a morel mushroom sauce.
The tender texture and rich flavour of the beef, the earthy notes of the
truffles and the intense aromas of the morel mushroom sauce created an ideal
gastronomic setting in which to discover the character of a blend built around
three Romanian grape varieties.
The pairing highlighted the pleasure of discovery and
the way a wine can complement and enhance a dish, creating a balance of
intensity, texture and aromatic expression.
A New Chapter in the Avincis Story
With Cuvée Grandiflora 2021, Avincis continues to
explore the potential of Romanian grape varieties, bringing them to the scene
through wines that combine tradition with a modern vision.
The third edition of this blend, and the first crafted
exclusively from Fetească Neagră, Alutus and Negru de Drăgășani, brings
together in a single bottle both the expression of indigenous grape varieties
and the cultural heritage of Drăgășani.
